Welcome to SFS 2024 Michael Troughton!

When you get the chance to have the son of the second Doctor Patrick Troughton at SFS you can’t say no, of course he’s appeared in Dr Who, playing Alan Smithe in the episode Last Christmas with Peter Capaldi.

Michael will also be remembered for playing the simpering Piers Fletcher-Dervish in The New Statesman with Rik Mayall, and alongside Dougray Scott, Kate Winslet and SFS co-star Angus MacInnes in the 2001 thriller Enigma.

Michael also voiced a number of characters for Big Finish's audio adventures, including taking over the role of the Second Doctor. He also wrote his father's biography, Patrick Troughton: The Biography of the Second Doctor Who, which was published in 2012. He also shared his memories of his father for the audio commentary of the DVD releases of The Underwater Menace and The Ice Warriors.

Michael will be joining us for the whole weekend.

SFW - Science Fiction Fantasy Warriors 14th - 17th March 2024 Great Yarmouth

I will be attending SFW - look forward to seeing you there.

Where is it - Just off the A47, and only half a mile from Great Yarmouth train station, Vauxhall Holiday Park is within easy reach if you’re travelling by car or train. And with a bus stop just outside of the park, all of the regions fantastic attractions are a short ride away.

SFW, or SciFiWeekender (it also stands for Science Fiction! Fantasy! Warriors!) is a weekend event which doesn’t take place over a weekend! It actually starts on a Thursday evening, and goes on to the early hours of Sunday Morning. Sunday is often spent nursing a sore head and feet from all the music and dancing, and making your way back home again.

It’s not a ComicCon, in that we don’t want people to be queuing for the whole event, and missing loads of great stuff, just to get an autograph from your favourite actor. We also don’t want aisles and aisles of dealers selling the same stuff you see everywhere else. We want the event to be fun, to be interactive and interesting, to challenge your mind and your creativity and not your pocket.

Who On The Wirral is a long-established community of Doctor Who fans that decided to launch conventions with one main question in mind: what did they want from a convention as fans?

They pride themselves on a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where Doctor Who fans can enjoy a day to remember. The events provide attendees with the opportunity to watch live panels with our guests, gain autographs in dedicated autograph sessions and take photos with the guests as well as opportunities to purchase merchandise, take part in charity raffles and much more.

At one of their events you'll find friendly staff, they'll be no hidden costs, no trying to push you through the autograph queue as quickly as possible whilst stipulating all sorts of conditions. It's not what they believe in! Events are meant to be fun, fans and guests alike are there to enjoy themselves and we don't want anything to get in the way.

Their chosen charity for 2023 is MIND

Mind is a mental health charity in England and Wales. Founded in 1946 as the National Association for Mental Health, it celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016. Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf.

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society is proud to announce The Capitol Seven Wonders - a full scale, two day event which will take place over the weekend of the 27th/28th April,2024 at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham M6 Junction 7.

As with all DWAS events, The Capitol Seven Wonders will offer a mix of guests panels, on screen presentations, autographs, photo studio, merchandise and much more...

Special events, as well as a plethora of guests, are planned for the weekend, with details being revealed over the coming months. Stay tuned.

Brilliant comic illustrations of the New Statesman

Met these wonderful fans (Tamsyn(left)and Louis(right)) at Hull Comicon last weekend who were so knowledgeable about my work. They even reminded me of TV shows I had done that I had forgotten about! They gifted my wife and I some key rings with the New Statesman characters printed on perspex. Tamsyn is studying to be an illustrator and she is very talented as can be seen by the pictures below. TimeLash VII returns to Kassel this year for the EU’s biggest celebration of Doctor Who and its fans!

TimeLash, arguably the biggest dedicated Doctor Who convention in the EU, is back again for a seventh year! The event returns to its regular home in Kassel, Germany this October, and guest announcements have begun.

Sophie Aldred, who played the Seventh Doctor’s companion Ace from 1987-1989 before returning for The Power of the Doctor, will be there. Michael Troughon, who as well as appearing on screen in Last Christmas plays the Second Doctor for Big Finish will be a guest too. While other announced guests include Yasmin Bannerman (Jabe, The End of the World) and monster performer Richard Price. With TimeLash priding itself on embracing fandom, other guests include literary expert (and huge SF fan) Dr. Rebecca Haar and author Kristina Sommar.

SAN DIEGO, CA – San Diego Who Con is pleased to announce Michael Troughton as a special guest for this year’s convention. Troughton, portrayed Piers Fletcher-Dervish in “The New Statesman”, Ivor in “Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married” and Professor Albert in “Doctor Who.” Troughton has guest starred on several TV shows including “Holby City” and “Birds of a Feather.” Troughton’s voice resume is impressive, with several productions published or soon to be released on Amazon Audible and Big Finish. Troughton has voiced the Second Doctor for Big Finish, following a family tradition, as his father Patrick Troughton portrayed the Second Doctor in the original series. Michael Troughton also authored, “Patrick Troughton: The Biography of the Second Doctor Who.”

SD Who Con, Celebrating 60 Years of Doctor Who, will be held October 20-22, 2023 at the Handlery Hotel. The three-day event features guests, cosplay contests, panels, and social activities. There will be a vender room featuring a wide variety of Doctor Who themed merchandise. SD Who Con will be holding a charity auction to benefit the Pegasus Rising Project.

Second Doctor Adventures

Big Finish’s range of full cast Second Doctor Adventures gets a brand new start in 2022, but we’ll be meeting him sooner than expected.

Actor Michael Troughton takes on the role of the Second Doctor (as previously played on television by his father, Patrick) and will be making his debut on audio in February.

Joining him is Frazer Hines as Jamie McCrimmon, the stalwart Scot who has accompanied this incarnation of the Doctor since the 1966 Doctor Who adventure, The Highlanders.

This TARDIS team will collide with the Third Doctor ( Tim Treloar ), Dr Liz Shaw ( Daisy Ashford ) and the Brigadier ( Jon Culshaw ) in the previously-announced seven-part adventure, The Annihilators.
